Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about how MOPbot works, what it can and cannot do, and how to get involved.
- What is MOPbot?
- MOPbot is an AI-powered chatbot that provides information about overdose prevention, harm reduction, recovery resources, and community services in Memphis. It was created by Ashish Kalaga and Raymond Cui, students at White Station High School.
- Is MOPbot a crisis line or emergency service?
- No. MOPbot is a prevention and education tool. If someone is overdosing or in immediate danger, call 911 now. For mental health crisis, call or text 988. For substance use treatment in Tennessee, call or text the Tennessee REDLINE at 800-889-9789.
- Can I trust the information MOPbot gives me?
- MOPbot uses local Memphis resources and public health data. It's still in beta and may occasionally make mistakes — always double-check important information through official, verified sources.
- Who can see my conversations?
- MOPbot doesn't collect your name, address, or location. Conversations are tied to an anonymous identifier that can't be linked back to you. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
